2025 is well underway bringing fresh excitement and creativity to the world of interior design. With a dynamic array of inspiring trends on the horizon, we caught up with Olivia Crosher, our expert in-house interior stylist, to see which styles she thinks will be at the forefront of fashionable design in the next twelve months.

Earthy Colours and Textures

“Textures and colours inspired by nature will remain strong for many of 2025’s trends due to their calming nature, which help create a safe haven in our homes," says Olivia. “Pinks, reds, greens and blues all bring a sense of the outdoors in and can be tailored to individual tastes, moving away from neutrals and beige for those wanting to introduce colour.

“Magnify this trend by embracing organic materials such as wood and greenery to create an instant connection to nature, which has proven health benefits.

“Maximise the impact of earthy tone and textures by adding colour and texture to every wall, and add pops of colour through your furniture and accessories. For those wanting a more minimalist finish, bring in subtle natural references via accessories including wall art, vases and plants.”

Wooden bed-frames work great for this trend, being sturdy and timeless yet still adding warmth. Selecting a complimentary wood for furniture, shutters or wall panelling will introduce a greater sense of warmth and create a cohesive look. Rustic wood textures provide a great contrast against a sleek bed-frame, softening the look further.

Start with white linen bedding to give a clean and crisp base for layering. Mix textures and colours such as wool and cotton throws with green and terracotta cushions, adding depth and interest. For bedside tables, round forms add extra softness to the room.

Quiet Luxury, the new “Minimaluxe”

The quiet luxury trend is also gathering momentum. Olivia adds, “This year we have seen the quiet luxury trend soar in fashion, with no exceptions for interior design. An evolution of “minimaluxe” - a pared back palette that strips back the noise by using soft shapes, textures and colours - quiet luxury is the ideal choice for countless homes.

“With busy lives and an increasingly uncertain world, people want their homes to offer a hotel-like sanctuary and this trend is perfect for that.

“Use rounded shapes, soft furnishings, integrated lighting and natural materials to give a light and airy feel that will create an almost spa-like feeling in your home. Evoking similar feelings to celebrated Japandi and Wabi-Sabi styles, this trend proves minimalism doesn’t have to mean uninspiring, and proves you can create a luxury feel without the fuss.”

How to use Quiet Luxury in a Living Room

If you have the space, a curved sofa would be the perfect centrepiece, creating a focal point with soft edges. Alternatively, a sofa with clean lines and large, soft cushions is also a great place to start, especially in a neutral colour and fabric that can be paired with a range of other finishes.

For coffee tables and other furniture, an understated aesthetic is key. Simple forms and structures are impactful in a subtle way. Solid wood or marble coffee tables are perfect for this as they give impact without being too fussy. Keep soft furnishing and accessory styling to a minimum, focusing on high quality finishes and interesting forms such as large table lamps and textured vases alongside reeded and fluted wall panels

Brown Renaissance

“Rich, brown interiors are set to be especially popular in 2025”, continues Olivia. “The iconic 70s palette of chocolate browns and silky caramels is making a comeback and have already been replacing the grey trend of past years. Don’t fret though, this trend certainly doesn’t mean beige or bland. With the luxurious fabrics and depth of colours available, brown interiors will emit a warm and welcoming feel that lifts the spaces to a hotel luxe feel.

“These rich browns work as a great neutral foundation to layer with complimentary colours such as warm buttery yellows, terracotta and blues. The key to success with this trend is to use lots of interesting textures - velvets, rustic wood, glossy paint and tactile fabrics are excellent ways to create depth. By mixing in tones of gold (another trend for 2025), interiors can be elevated further to create a luxurious, vibrant scheme.”

This is the perfect way to inject some luxury into a home office space. Browns add a richness to any space, providing the perfect backdrop to a wooden desk and leather office chair. Layering these coffee tones with taupe and cream will create a calm environment for deep focus.

Add panelling of your choice to the walls to add interest and character, then colour drench the room with deep brown to create a rich cocoon, applying the paint on all walls, skirting, dado rails, and even ceiling.

Goodbye Cookie-Cutter

“Next year, we will continue to see the shift of rigid trends taking a back seat to decorating a space exactly how you want. In short, greater focus on individuality and authenticity,” Olivia notes.

“This trend will encourage us to take a step away from the neutral colour palettes we are seeing, and go for those bold tones and unique patterns that speak to us. Equally, it will lead us to invest in artisanal items over mass produced pieces that feel more special to us.

Olivia concludes: “Ultimately, home design is to be enjoyed, and by being playful, people will introduce character into their homes and create a space they love to spend time in. Tailoring a space to an individual’s style will also help give a home that lived-in feel.”

For this trend, be bold and mix interior styles to curate your own unique look. Try sourcing a second-hand or antique sideboard that can be styled with a large mirror above and bold table lamp for example.

Take this opportunity to introduce some pops of colour or graphic artwork on the walls. This is the space where you welcome guests into your home, so should be an introduction to your style and personality.

Thanks Olivia for those valuable and interesting insights! How will you approach your home design in 2025? Will you embrace the natural power of brown tones? relax in quiet luxury? or create a truly unique aesthetic that mirrors your personality?
