Whilst they are functional spaces, bathrooms are also rooms where we relax, and find peace. Historically, bathrooms were somewhat overlooked but in recent years, these oases of calm have started to receive the love they truly deserve. In this blog, we’ll be providing you with some of our favourite bathroom colour ideas, alongside plenty of inspiration to get your creative juices flowing.

The best bathroom wall colour ideas

Bathroom panelling colour ideas all depend on personal taste. Your home should always reflect your unique style so picking colours that speak to you is very important. That said, there are some time-tested bathroom wall colour ideas which will maximise your bathroom’s visual appeal. These are seven of our favourites…

Chic white bathrooms

White bathrooms are a classic style enjoyed in countless homes. Some may argue that white bathrooms can look a little clinical, but with the right shades and accessories, they can look remarkably elegant and chic. The neutral nature of white makes it ideal for mixing with other colours and patterns. Our favourite combination for white bathrooms is bright white walls paired with stone effect shower panels around the bath.

Cosy grey bathrooms

Shades of warm, natural grey are perfect choices for the bathroom, especially when combined with the right accessories. Whether you pick to enjoy more literal stone colours such as the Elemence Pewter Grey Stone Effect Shower Panel, or prefer a mixture of painted walls and pre-primed paintable wall panels, grey won’t let you down. Add gold accessories for a lux finish, or silvers for a sleeker yet equally chic effect.

Mix natural colours

The third of our bathroom wall colour ideas covers a selection of colours with one thing in common. Nature-inspired colours contribute to the overall calming effect of a bathroom. Sage or eucalyptus greens, sky blues and rich terracotta shades can all be used to great effect. Combining the depth of suitable waterproof wall panels, the refreshing or balancing nature of the colours, and some well placed plants will add colour, and harmony to the bathroom.

Ensuite bathroom colour ideas

Ensuite bathrooms are growing in popularity and a great way of enjoying greater convenience. These bathrooms, while smaller than family size bathrooms, are no less deserving of love and attention. The trick is to make the room feel bright which in turn makes it seem larger. Whites, warm creams shades and bright silver details will all contribute to a timelessly chic ensuite bathroom. Dark colour bathroom ideas

While many of the colours we’ve looked at tend to be on the lighter side, adding dark colours into a bathroom can add an opulent finish to the space. Pops of black can make a bathroom feel slightly retro when paired with whites, while dark anthracite greys offer the same dynamism in cream or green bathrooms. With dark colours, our top tip is to use them sparingly. Dark mirror frames, plant pots or Black Marble Effect Shower Panels will add the elegance of darker tones without making the bathroom feel small or uninviting.

Modern bathroom colour ideas

Modern bathrooms tend to be on the more colourful side of the spectrum. Creating a foundation of cool neutral shades including whites and grey is a fantastic starting point. From there, adding in organic tones of green and blue - or even dusky shades of pink - help to elevate the space’s appeal. For the smaller details, polished silvers and wood effect furnishings will help to complete the look.

Traditional bathroom colour ideas

For a more classically inspired bathroom, mix pristine whites with more vibrant tones. To keep a bathroom from feeling too overpowering, split the wall with half height wall panels or a dado rail to restrain the brighter colours on display. Pinks, yellow and oranges are all excellent colours to consider, especially for smaller bathrooms. For a traditionally luxurious effect, add gold or brass coloured taps and mirror frames to really make the space pop.
